Environmental Contributions

The majority of the feedstock originates from greenfield excavations and rock over burden; these materials are normally disposed of at a landfill site. We provide an alternative route for disposal, which contributes towards minimising waste to landfill, and meeting ever increasing landfill diversion targets.

We can recover 99% of the feedstock and return it into clean single sized aggregates and low permeability clay that meet the requirements of quarried products. The sand we produce is sustainable sand and has no impact on our countryside or coastline. This is most important in Wales where sand extraction from the sea is causing increasing concern.

The benefits of using this facility are vast; transport and handling costs are minimized as materials can be disposed of for recycling and sustainable aggregates can be collected in the same vehicular movement.

This facility is making a considerable contribution in the battle to divert waste from landfill and reduce the reliance on virgin aggregates, particularly in reducing demand for sand dredged from the Bristol Channel.
